PDS Tech Commercial is seeking experienced Industrial Pipefitters / Steamfitters to support a leading aerospace organization in Schenectady, NY. Step into a highly technical environment where your craft keeps research operations and next‑generation aerospace technologies running safely and reliably.

A day in the life

You start your 1st Shift day by walking the mechanical rooms, checking pressures, temperatures, and flow on steam, chilled water, compressed air, and specialty gas systems. A new test stand is coming online, so you review blueprints, piping drawings, and schematics, measure runs, and fabricate sections—bending, cutting, and fitting pipe to spec. You install and repair valves, fittings, piping components, and mechanical equipment, then test and troubleshoot to verify performance. Between projects, you perform preventive maintenance, capture work in maintenance documentation and work orders, and coordinate with engineers to support equipment used in aerospace research and testing environments.

What you’ll do

• Install, fabricate, maintain, test, and repair industrial piping systems
• Support mechanical utility systems: steam, chilled water, compressed air, gases, and other facility services
• Perform pipe layout, cutting, fitting, installation, and modifications
• Install and repair valves, fittings, piping components, and mechanical equipment
• Troubleshoot piping system issues and complete corrective repairs
• Perform preventive maintenance on facility mechanical systems
• Read and interpret blueprints, piping drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
• Assist with installation and maintenance of equipment for aerospace research and testing
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and service logs

What you’ll bring

• 2–3+ years of industrial pipefitting or steamfitting experience, including installation and repair of pipes, valves, fittings, and mechanical systems
• Solid understanding of industrial piping systems
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics
• Strong attention to detail and a safety-first mindset
