Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) Specialist — Logistics Operations

A day in this role

You arrive, run your safety checks, and prep your lift for the day. Pallets are positioned, trailers arrive, and you’re the one orchestrating the flow—loading and unloading, staging orders, and updating inventory so the next team has what they need. You keep a sharp eye on equipment condition, report issues immediately, and coordinate with shipping and receiving to keep timelines on track. Some tasks bring you outdoors, where changing weather is part of the workday. When needed, you’ll work with overhead cranes and other material handling tools to move heavy product safely and efficiently.

What you'll handle

  • Move materials and finished goods efficiently using forklifts and related equipment.
  • Load and unload inbound and outbound trucks and containers.
  • Complete and document daily equipment inspections; escalate maintenance needs.
  • Help manage inventory accuracy through counts, system updates, and organized staging.
  • Follow all safety procedures and company guidelines without exception.
  • Partner with teammates to ensure on-time shipments and smooth warehouse/yard flow.
  • Identify and report hazards or equipment malfunctions to leadership promptly.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Current forklift operator certification (forklift licensed).
  • Hands-on forklift experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong safety mindset.
  • Comfort lifting and moving heavy materials; able to meet physical requirements.
  • Clear communicator and dependable team player.
  • Basic computer literacy for inventory tracking and updates.

Work setting

Work is performed primarily outdoors and will involve exposure to varying weather conditions.
