Large-Format Machining Value Stream Leader

Step into the heartbeat of large-format machining

At Re:Build Manufacturing – New Kensington, you will guide a value stream that powers complex programs across aerospace, defense, mobility, healthcare, biotech, clean tech, chemicals, energy, lifestyle, food production, and industrial equipment. We are part of a fast-growing family of industrial and engineering businesses combining enabling technologies, operational superiority, and strategic M&A to revitalize U.S. manufacturing. Our candid, principled culture empowers people to stretch, grow, and deliver differentiated outcomes.

Our New Kensington team brings advanced capabilities in product and systems design, automation, fabrication, assembly, and large-volume contract manufacturing. We began with build-to-print and by-the-hour engineering/design services and are scaling into sophisticated program development, production, and proprietary products.

A day in this role

  • Open the shop with your production supervisors, confirming schedules, material readiness, and staffing. You ensure the floor runs to plan and customers receive on-time deliveries.
  • Walk the line: validate 5S, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance (OSHA, FDA, environmental). You reinforce a zero-incident culture.
  • Review machining performance: OEE, throughput, scrap, and labor efficiency. Lead root-cause/countermeasure actions to eliminate losses.
  • Meet with manufacturing and quality engineers to refine process flow, deploy SMED and RIE events, and accelerate continuous improvement.
  • Sit with supply chain, technical, quality, and commercial partners to align capacity with market demand and product innovations.
  • Steward the value stream P&L—optimize labor, overhead, and operating expenses; manage budgets and capex; unlock cost-reduction levers.
  • Evaluate new machining technologies, automation strategies, and quality control systems to increase yield and reduce cost.

What you will own

  • Implement and evolve the strategic plan to build and scale a Large Scale Machine (LFM) facility, while running daily operations in production, maintenance, quality, and logistics.
  • Recruit, develop, and mentor an accountable, high-performing team across production, supply chain, quality, and engineering.
  • Champion Lean tools—Value Stream Analysis, RIE, SMED, 5S—to remove non-value activity and waste across the flow.
  • Advance production scheduling, material availability, and process flow in partnership with Sourcing/Supply Chain, Technical, Quality, and Commercial teams.
  • Ensure all manufacturing processes meet industry standards and environmental policies, sustaining safety, quality, and delivery.

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or related field.
  • 10+ years leading machine shop operations; strong preference for large-scale machining.
  • 5+ years in senior leadership within sophisticated manufacturing environments.
  • Hands-on experience in facility startup, new product introduction, and production scale-up.
  • Deep knowledge of machining processes, methods, equipment, and tooling.
  • Expertise in automation, Industry 4.0, and smart manufacturing technologies.
  • Proven leadership, team building, and talent development abilities.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and critical thinking; Lean mindset and practice.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and related quality management systems.
