Conventional Machining Operator (Manual Mills)

Atlantic Track & Turnout Co. has spent 60+ years building specialty trackwork for railroads, transit systems, and crane runways. We’re growing our Richmond, Illinois operation and hiring a Conventional Machining Operator to run manual mills for production of precision components.

Schedule

• Permanent: 2nd shift, Monday–Thursday, 3:00pm–1:30am
• Training: 1st shift, Monday–Friday, 7:00am–3:30pm

What you’ll do

• Set up and operate manual milling machines; adjust offsets to maintain part conformance.
• Assemble and index milling cutters and inserts appropriate to the job.
• Use an overhead crane to safely load and unload parts.
• Measure in-process and final features; document results per quality requirements.
• Maintain an orderly, safe workstation and a team-first mindset.
• Partner with support personnel on programming, tooling, and machine troubleshooting.

Must-haves

• High school diploma or GED and 2+ years of machining experience.
• Knowledge of feeds, speeds, and chip load; solid tooling fundamentals.
• Ability to read and understand production drawings.
• On-site availability in Richmond, IL, with willingness to work overtime as needed.
• Continuous improvement mindset and dependable work habits.

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with FANUC CNC controls.
• Prior industrial milling experience.
