Multi‑Axis CNC CAM Programmer — 3 & 4‑Axis Milling

Multi‑Axis CNC CAM Programmer — 3 & 4‑Axis Milling

Location: Sarasota, FL | Schedule: Full-Time

Picture your day: you start with a complex print on your desk and a 3D model on screen. You map out an efficient strategy, select cutters and workholding, generate toolpaths, and post clean G-code. On the floor, you partner with a skilled machinist to set up a VMC, run the first-piece, dial in feeds and speeds, and validate a tight-tolerance feature with QA. By the afternoon, you’ve shaved seconds off the cycle, extended tool life, documented the process, and released a repeatable program to production. That’s the rhythm here—hands-on, precise, and deeply collaborative at a well-established precision manufacturer in the Sarasota area.

What You’ll Do

  • Write, revise, and optimize CNC programs for 3‑ and 4‑axis machining centers.
  • Generate toolpaths from engineering drawings, CAD models, and specifications.
  • Plan machining strategies: cutter selection, workholding/fixtures, speeds/feeds, and operation sequencing.
  • Own new‑part development from initial print through first‑article/first‑piece production.
  • Create and refine setups, fixtures, and end‑to‑end machining processes.
  • Troubleshoot code, tooling, dimensional, and machining issues directly at the machine.
  • Tune programs to improve cycle time, tool life, quality, and repeatability.
  • Collaborate with machinists, quality, and manufacturing engineering to achieve part conformity.
  • Interpret complex blueprints and GD&T to meet tight tolerances and technical requirements.
  • Lead first‑piece prove‑outs and verify programs consistently make conforming parts.
  • Maintain accurate program files and supporting manufacturing documentation.
  • Continuously identify and implement process improvements.

What You Bring

  • Proven experience programming 3‑ and 4‑axis CNC machining centers.
  • Ability to independently program complex, precision‑machined components.
  • Deep knowledge of CNC machining, cutting tools, fixturing, speeds/feeds, and workholding.
  • Expert blueprint reading with strong GD&T fluency.
  • Background producing tight‑tolerance parts in a precision environment.
  • Hands‑on troubleshooting skills at the machine.
  • Professional CAM programming experience.
  • Strong problem‑solving ability and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Experience in precision machining or advanced manufacturing preferred.
  • Exposure to both new‑part introduction and production machining is a plus.

Tools & Technology

  • Proficiencies: CNC Tooling, CNC Programming, G‑Code
  • Equipment: CNC Mill (3–4 axis VMC), CNC Lathe (2–4 axis)
  • CAM: Autodesk Fusion 360
