Technical Sales Engineer Overview:

Intek Plastics is seeking a detail-oriented Technical Sales Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will support the customer quotation and estimating process by gathering technical information, analyzing part and tooling requirements, prepare cost estimates, and coordinate with internal departments to develop accurate and competitive quotations.

Technical Sales Engineer Key Responsibilities:

  • Review customer RFQs, drawings, specifications, and CAD models to gather information required for quotations.
  • Prepare part and tooling cost estimates using established costing models and procedures.
  • Collect and analyze material, labor, tooling, and secondary operation costs to support accurate pricing.
  • Coordinate with Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Tooling teams to obtain quote inputs.
  • Maintain quotation records, costing worksheets, and supporting documentation. Assist in evaluating manufacturability and identifying technical considerations that may impact costs or lead times.
  • Obtain and coordinate supplier quotations for tooling, materials, and outsourced services.
  • Support quote revisions resulting from design changes, customer feedback, or updated project requirements.
  • Track quote activity, maintain estimating databases, and report status to management.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts related to estimating processes, tools, and cost accuracy.
  • Serve as primary technical resource for estimation team members.
  • Act as a back up for estimator role as needed.

Technical Sales Engineer Key Qualifications:

  • 3–5 years of manufacturing experience in a technical role.
  • 4 year degree in Engineering
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective listening skills with the ability to clarify business and technical requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
  • Experience with ERP or computerized manufacturing systems.
  • Familiarity with CAD drafting and design software.
  • Background in tooling, plastics development, machining, or injection molding.Business Development Coordinator Physical Requirements
  • Ability to perform standard office activities, including sitting, bending, reaching, and twisting.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is required.
