Industrial Fabrication Technician — Rolling, Welding & Press

Build What Lasts: Help Fabricate the Steel Components Behind Critical Infrastructure

At Thompson Pipe Group, we turn raw steel into precision rings that support water and wastewater systems across North America. As an Industrial Fabrication Technician, you’ll shape, weld, and press components with the accuracy our customers count on.

Status: Full-time | Pay: $17.00+ DOE | Hours: 1st Shift, Mon–Thurs, 6:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.

Imagine your first week

You’re paired with a seasoned operator who walks you through setting up the ring press—selecting tooling, verifying thickness specs, and performing a changeover for the next diameter. By midweek, you’re confidently running the overhead crane to position liners, rolling material to roundness, and using the flash welder and trimmer to achieve a clean finish. You measure, verify, and fine-tune machines to hit tolerance every time.

Your core responsibilities

  • Operate as the primary overhead crane operator in the steel liner area.
  • Cut/shear, tack weld, roll, and grind steel to blueprint and quality standards.
  • Run ring presses to enlarge or shrink rings; complete setups and changeovers.
  • Conduct quality checks, adjust equipment, and perform minor repairs.
  • Load/unload the line, move materials with a forklift, and complete pre-op inspections.
  • Maintain organization and protect products/equipment from damage.

What sets you up for success

  • Commitment to safety; respectful, responsible, and dependable.
  • Ability to pass a forklift safety course and safely operate a forklift.
  • Ability to pass written and practical overhead crane training.
  • Hands-on mechanical aptitude with production machinery.
  • Flexibility for non-standard hours; strong housekeeping and problem-solving ability.
