Gas Pipeline CAD Designer (SAP/SAMS)

Location: Akron, OH (onsite, local candidates only)

A day in the life

You start your morning at our Akron office, grabbing the latest project notes from the engineering technicians you support. By mid-morning, you’re assembling inspection packets—review checklists, printed drawings, and neatly organized folders—so field teams have exactly what they need. After lunch, you’re in AutoCAD refining design drawings for gas pipeline work, then pivoting to SAP to create VCU's across transmission, storage and gathering, and high- to low-pressure distribution projects. Before the day ends, you dive into SAMS (our GIS) to verify alignments, pull property records and scanned field notes, and send electronic requests to vendors for Basemaps and pipeline design. You’ll also submit online requests to Environmental and Land so permitting and land coordination keep pace with design.

What you’ll do

• Partner with engineering technicians to move pipeline design packages from concept to ready-for-inspection.
• Create and assemble complete inspection packets, including checklists and project folders.
• Use SAP to generate VCU's for a range of gas system projects: transmission, storage and gathering, and high- to low-pressure distribution.
• Research records: interpret field notes, review property and digital (scanned) records, and leverage SAMS (GIS) to validate data.
• Issue electronic vendor requests for Basemaps and pipeline design inputs.
• Submit online requests to Environmental and Land stakeholders.
• Produce and update AutoCAD design drawings for gas pipeline projects and assemble the documentation needed to build robust project folders.

What you bring

• 3–5 years of relevant experience.
• AutoCAD drafting/design expertise.
• Working knowledge of SAP and Microsoft tools; strong Excel proficiency.
• Background in gas, utility, or construction environments.

We are committed to transparency and equity in all our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $25.00 to $28.00 per hour.
