About the role
As a Business Controller at Billor, you will play a critical role in driving financial transparency and operational efficiency. You will be responsible for providing key financial updates to senior management by analyzing and reporting data-driven insights. Your expertise will help shape financial decisions by ensuring company policies align with the current economic landscape. Additionally, you will develop and maintain financial controls, optimize budgeting processes, and implement corrective measures to achieve financial targets. Through innovative process development, you will support the execution of both short- and long-term operational strategies, contributing to Billor’s continued growth and success.
Responsibilities
- Translate strategic goals into measurable key performance indicators.
- Understand what is happening in the market and proactively act by contributing to updated forecasts.
- Control and monitor business processes, budget, and budgeting.
- Initiate improvement processes in Financial and Operational Management together with internal stakeholders and establish control and measurement of the implementation.
- Conduct commercial analysis and develop Financial Scenario Analysis.
- Report results to management to allow for timely changes to be made and goals to be achieved.
- Communicate with internal and external stakeholders (often auditors).
- Produce and Review financial reports to ensure that they are correct and complete.
- Together with the CFO, evaluate the company's financial results by analyzing reports.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, improvement opportunities, and risks.
- Forecast future investment or resource needs.
- Lead the month, quarterly and yearly close with the different business units.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (Master’s degree or CPA/CMA certification is a plus).
- 5+ years of experience in financial controlling, FP&A, business finance, or a similar role, preferably in trucking, logistics, or FinTech industries.
- Strong understanding of financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control principles.
- Experience with financial reporting, variance analysis, and scenario planning to support data-driven decision-making.
- Ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights for senior management.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, and financial compliance requirements.
- Experience with internal controls, audits, and risk management.
- Ability to develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and controls.
- Proficiency in Excel, financial modeling, and data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar).
- Experience with ERP systems (QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, or other relevant software).
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to interact with senior leadership and external stakeholders.
- Highly detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience leading or collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Bonus Qualifications:
- Experience in a high-growth startup or private equity-backed environment.
- Prior experience in trucking, logistics, or transportation finance.
- Understanding of FinTech lending models or working with asset-backed financing.
