Production Control Manager

Whelan Machine & Tool, an Ajax Defense company, builds precision components and assemblies for defense and commercial customers. We're hiring a Production Control Manager to own production planning and scheduling and lead the Production Control team.

What you'll do

• Own the master production schedule so it reflects capacity, priorities and customer delivery commitments
• Lead, coach and develop the Production Control team, including Production Coordinators
• Analyze demand, capacity and material availability; adjust schedules for engineering changes, material delays and downtime
• Monitor work-in-process and open jobs to clear bottlenecks before they affect delivery
• Serve as the planning expert in the ERP/MRP system (Microsoft Dynamics NAV) and keep routings, bills of material and lead times accurate
• Partner with Purchasing, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality and Program Management to keep production on track, and report schedule performance to leadership

What you need

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management or a related field, or equivalent experience
• 5+ years in production control, planning or scheduling in manufacturing
• 2+ years leading a production control, planning or scheduling team
• Strong ERP/MRP and Excel skills
• Must be a U.S. Person as defined by ITAR (the job involves export-controlled technical data)

Nice to have

• Microsoft Dynamics NAV experience
• APICS/ASCM CPIM or CSCP certification
• Aerospace, defense or government-contract scheduling experience

Office-based with regular time on the production floor.
