OSP Fiber Splicing Field Technician

Step into the field where connections come to life

Picture your morning: you arrive on site, review a schematic, stage your bucket truck, gear up, and ascend to an aerial run. You complete a precise fusion splice, verify signal quality, then drop to ground level to route low‑voltage cabling and tie a new LAN/WAN segment into service. Before you roll to the next location, you update documentation and brief your supervisor on progress. That’s a day in the life of our OSP Fiber Splicing Field Technician.

In this paid role, you’ll help expand high‑speed connectivity across residential, commercial, and industrial projects. You’ll work hands-on with fiber optic infrastructure—installing, splicing, and troubleshooting—while collaborating with a team that invests in your training and prioritizes safety.

What you’ll do

  • Install, splice, and diagnose fiber optic cabling with precise splicing techniques to preserve signal integrity.
  • Operate heavy equipment—such as bucket trucks—and power tools to reach elevated or tight access areas for installs and maintenance.
  • Interpret drawings and network diagrams; translate them into accurate cabling layouts using hand tools and your networking know‑how.
  • Build and service telecom infrastructure including LAN, WAN, Ethernet, and other low‑voltage wiring for a range of clients.
  • Climb poles/structures with proper climbing gear to install or repair aerial fiber while following strict safety protocols.
  • Perform construction tasks tied to telephony systems, electrical wiring, and network upgrade projects.
  • Document work thoroughly, update schematics as needed, and communicate status clearly to teammates and supervisors.

What you’ll bring

  • Hands-on field service experience in telecommunications or fiber optic systems.
  • Proven ability to safely and efficiently run heavy equipment such as bucket trucks.
  • Background in fiber splicing, cabling, electrical wiring, and other low‑voltage systems.
  • Comfort with schematics and core networking concepts (LAN, Ethernet, WAN, telephony).
  • Working knowledge of construction practices specific to telecom infrastructure.
  • Physical capability to climb poles/structures with climbing gear and work confidently at heights.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and safety equipment used in install and construction work.
  • Sharp troubleshooting skills and attention to detail, including the ability to read and interpret technical diagrams.
  • Previous experience on telecom or IT infrastructure projects is strongly preferred.

Why you’ll thrive here

  • A paid opportunity to contribute directly to cutting‑edge network builds.
  • Exposure to diverse environments—residential, commercial, and industrial.
  • Ongoing training and supportive leadership committed to your growth.
  • A safety‑first culture that equips you to do your best work.
