Industrial Forging Automation Specialist

You enjoy taming complex mechanical systems, programming robots, and teaching others how to keep lines running smoothly. You’re energized by solving deviations at the root cause and by building training that sticks.

What you’ll work on

  • Keep safety, ergonomics, and environmental standards front and center in line with Amsted Rail’s Health & Safety program.
  • Turn job orders, drawings, and specs into the right tooling and setups.
  • Program robots and loading/unloading devices; validate proper operation.
  • Lead diagnostic hunts to eliminate equipment failures and process/product drift.
  • Inspect, test, and tune parts and machine components.
  • Assess tooling health and submit timely requisitions to meet production demand.
  • Partner with operators, maintenance, and engineering to train, troubleshoot, and improve.
  • Write robust work instructions and process plans; curate training materials in an organized library.
  • Deliver operator training: procedures, hands-on practice, and troubleshooting drills.
  • Capture and analyze data in company systems to spot trends and issues.
  • Support changeovers across lines/cells, including attachments and tooling removal.
  • Execute preventive maintenance to prevent downtime.
  • Operate machinery as required to validate processes and assist production.

What you bring

  • Mechanical aptitude with prior industrial experience.
  • Strength and stamina to lift/push/pull 10–50 lbs and remain on your feet throughout the shift.
  • Commitment to proper PPE use (employer-provided).
  • Fluency with Microsoft Office and ease navigating OneDrive/SharePoint and version control.
  • Ability to quickly learn company software, databases, and systems.
  • Clear, accurate communication and strong keyboarding skills.
  • Successfully pass a pre-employment drug & background screening

Schedule

Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. Flexibility is both available and expected.
