Automotive Glass Bending & Finishing Technician (Cattin/Cutline)

Join Carlex as an Automotive Glass Bending & Finishing Technician

We’re hiring for two complementary roles on our 12-hour night shift (3-2-2-3 rotation): a Cattin Furnace Operator and a Cutline/Paintroom Operator. If you bring 2+ years of machine operation experience and thrive in high-precision manufacturing, this is your next step.

A day in your life on the night shift

Path 1: Cattin Furnace Operator

You start your shift by reviewing HMI and IP gage trends, confirming furnace parameters, and scanning for heat profile changes. You’ll run the bending process to deliver consistently high-quality parts, performing checks such as part quality verification, gaging, sag mapping, and xenon light distortion evaluations.

  • Set, verify, and adjust Cattin furnace parameters; identify breaker issues early
  • Interpret HMI/IP gage data to track heat activity and process trends
  • Anticipate and correct convex issues with proactive adjustments
  • Coordinate with the upstream Paint Room Operator to keep flow from Cutting to Bending smooth
  • Execute changeovers and apply the relationship between windshield geometry and bending fixtures

Path 2: Cutline/Paintroom Operator

Your focus is precision setup and finishing. You’ll select the correct paint, prepare and inspect screens, and keep programs and equipment dialed in for accurate cuts and consistent print quality.

  • Locate and prepare screens; read and tape stencils correctly
  • Ready the screen with booting and inspection; mix paint/materials and perform viscosity checks
  • Operate panel views; use the Kurt system for process control adjustments
  • Load programs from disk to grinders and cutters; assist with changeovers
  • Make adjustments and troubleshoot with support once the line is running
  • Change cutting wheels, springs, and grinding wheels; set up cups on the vacuum table
  • Measure and adjust coolant levels; understand washer functions

Who thrives here

  • Those who show initiative, accountability, and a strong work ethic

  • Work in extreme heat and humidity

Schedule: 12-hour night shift on a rotating 3-2-2-3 schedule, with overtime as needed, including weekends and holidays.
