Material Handling Systems Field Service Technician
Location: Elgin, IL — Chicagoland customer sites (home every night)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30/4:00 PM, plus overtime
Compensation: $22–$25 per hour with frequent merit increases and OT opportunities
A day in this role
At 7:00 AM you start your day in Elgin, load up your company-provided vehicle, and head to a nearby distribution center. By mid-morning, you’re aligning a conveyor frame, checking gearbox oil levels, and swapping a sensor that’s been tripping intermittently. After lunch, you assist with a system startup—verifying motor rotation, tensioning belts, and documenting PM findings. You wrap up by keeping the site tidy, update your work order, and you’re home for dinner—because travel stays local across the Chicagoland area (within roughly a three-hour radius).
What you’ll tackle
- Install and set up conveyor lines and related automation components
- Perform preventative maintenance and mechanical repairs on material handling equipment
- Troubleshoot mechanical and basic electrical issues—with hands-on training to ramp up
- Support system startups and respond to service calls
- Work alongside a senior technician during your first 30–90 days
- Follow safety procedures and keep job sites organized and clean
Training you can count on
We invest in a structured, hands-on onboarding program. You’ll shadow experienced technicians for 30–90 days and progressively take on troubleshooting, repairs, and system commissioning with confidence.
