Manufacturing Process Development Engineer

Day in the Life — Grantsburg, WI

As a Manufacturing Process Development Engineer at our state-of-the-art Grantsburg facility, you’ll turn complex build requirements into efficient, repeatable production. Your morning might start with refining a new machining method, move into a tooling/fixturing design review, and wrap with a Gemba walk to drive a lean improvement you proposed last week. You’ll operate with minimal supervision, regularly stepping into a project manager role to coordinate cross-functional efforts and supplier activities.

What You’ll Own

• Define and document detailed manufacturing methods for new and existing products.
• Design and/or select production tooling and custom fixturing.
• Initiate quality planning, including sampling plans and techniques aligned to ISO 9001.
• Support estimating with process routings, cycle times, and cost drivers.
• Kick off and guide material planning activities to ensure on-time readiness.
• Oversee and control outside vendor processes to meet technical and schedule needs.
• Serve as Project Manager for assigned initiatives—plan, communicate, and deliver.
• Implement process improvements and champion lean initiatives across the value stream.
• Ensure compliance with applicable solicitations and contractual requirements, including government contracting expectations.
• Coach and train engineers, machinists, and other team members as needed.
• Jump in on other tasks that keep the business moving—proactively and independently.

What You Bring

• BS in Manufacturing Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience; typically 5–7+ years.
• Deep knowledge of manufacturing processes and production methods.
• Proficiency with CAD; experience with CAD/CAM workflows and machine setup documentation for production runs.
• Familiarity with sampling methodologies and quality planning tools.
• Experience with ISO 9001 quality systems; exposure to aerospace and/or DoD manufacturing preferred.
• Understanding of government contracting requirements and solicitations.
• Skilled in MS Office; strong organization, communication, and project management.
• Thrives in a team environment and collaborates effectively across functions.
