Automation Maintenance Specialist — Controls & Instrumentation

A Day on the Floor

It’s 2nd shift. A production line pauses. You load a recent Allen-Bradley project, trace an I/O fault, tweak logic, and bring the line back to life. Moments later, you calibrate a sensor, replace a worn hydraulic component, and mentor a junior tech through interpreting a schematic. How You’ll Contribute

  • Plan and perform preventive maintenance to safeguard uptime and quality.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and PLC issues across automated equipment.
  • Program, adjust, and troubleshoot PLC/HMI platforms (Allen-Bradley, Siemens) to enhance throughput and stability.
  • Read and apply manuals, diagrams, sketches, engineering specs, and work orders.
  • Measure, align, assemble, install, calibrate, rebuild, and replace components and systems.
  • Lead by example in safety; engage in housekeeping, Operational Excellence, and Lean efforts.
  • Guide less-experienced colleagues; take on additional tasks as needed.

Experience & Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical schooling valued. Around 2–3 years of industrial/manufacturing maintenance experience or comparable training. Certifications and/or a related associate degree preferred.
  • Preferred background: 3+ years in PLC/HMI config and programming; control circuit analysis/design/troubleshooting; software and hardware diagnostics; high-voltage maintenance; and mechanical/hydraulic/pneumatic repairs.

Technical Strengths

  • Comfort with hand/power/specialty tools and diagnostic instruments.
  • Knowledge of automated industrial machinery and electro-hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
  • Fluent in reading electrical/mechanical prints and executing work orders.
  • Effective communicator with strong problem-solving skills; calm under shifting priorities.
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot, disassemble, and reassemble production equipment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related software; strong written and verbal communication.

Rewards

Pay: $30.02 - $30.02 (typical new hire wage usually falls between $30.02 to $30.02). Offers for this position may vary based on market data and other factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographic location. If the competitive wage is equal in both fields, the starting rate is the same for all applicants that apply for this role. The starting rate is not representative of future compensation increases. This role may also be eligible for a short-term incentive.
