Join Avalign Integrated Medical in Mentor, OH on our 3rd shift and help craft life-changing components. In this role, you will operate conventional, special-purpose, and CNC machines and machining centers to fabricate parts that meet exacting customer specifications—primarily on Star Swiss equipment producing precision medical implants.

A day in this role

  • Begin your 3rd shift by reviewing setup sheets, blueprints, and work orders, confirming job priorities and customer requirements.
  • Independently set up Star CNC Swiss lathes, dialing in offsets, loading tools, and making adjustments to hold tight tolerances.
  • Run first-piece parts, perform inspections with micrometers, calipers, and optical comparators, and document results in first-piece inspection logs.
  • Maintain strict ID & traceability for every component, updating maintenance records and work orders as you go.
  • Execute routine and daily preventive maintenance (P.M.) to keep machines production-ready.
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to refine machining parameters and optimize cycle times without compromising quality.
  • Keep your cell organized and safe using 5S principles.

Core responsibilities

  • Operate CNC Swiss lathes and, as needed, conventional and special-purpose machinery to produce medical-grade parts to print.
  • Interpret blueprints, setup documentation, and work instructions; verify parts meet customer specifications.
  • Perform tool changes, wear adjustments, and offsets to sustain tolerance and surface finish requirements.
  • Record production activities, including inspection results, work orders, and maintenance logs.
  • Follow rigorous quality procedures and traceability protocols throughout production.

What you’ll bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification is a plus.
  • Minimum 3 years operating and setting up CNC lathe machines.
  • At least 1 year of blueprint reading experience.
  • Minimum 1 year with GD&T and measuring tolerances using micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
  • Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
