Where you’ll work: Sheboygan, WI — Onsite & Union (Gardner Denver Thomas, 1419 Illinois Ave., Sheboygan, WI 53081)

Hours: 2nd Shift | Monday–Friday | 3:00 p.m.–11:00 p.m.

Role impact

Keep our die‑cast operations flowing. You’ll run central melt furnaces, deliver molten aluminum on schedule, and support die‑casting cell setup to ensure continuous production and stable melt temperatures.

Your core responsibilities

  • Operate furnaces to melt aluminum ingots/scrap for die‑casting lines.
  • Control and document furnace temperatures; charge ingots and scrap as instructed.
  • Plan and execute timely molten metal deliveries to each machine; maintain central melt temperature.
  • Assist with furnace cooldowns; inspect linings for cracks/defects; check distribution ladles; support repairs.
  • Handle materials and drive lift trucks safely as needed.
  • Set up die‑casting cells when required (ladle, auto‑spray, robotics, trim press); change dies and make adjustments.
  • Protect team safety during ladle filling, lift‑truck movement, and pouring operations for machine set‑ups.

Must‑haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent (technical diploma preferred).
  • Minimum 1 year of forklift experience with a current license.

Preferred experience

  • 1+ year of hands‑on furnace operation (cleaning, operation, maintenance).
  • Ability to follow written/verbal instructions under general supervision; seek guidance on unusual situations.
  • Previous die‑casting environment experience prior to hire/assignment.

Physical demands & work environment

  • Heat, dirt, grease, fumes, and noise over 85 dB (hearing protection required above 85 dB).
  • Material handling demands: lift/push/pull/carry up to 5 lbs constantly, 35 lbs frequently, 75 lbs occasionally.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, kneeling, climbing, bending, and stooping.
  • Regular use of lift trucks (power/hand), shovels, furnace cleaning tools, skimming/fluxing tools, hand tools, hoists, and PPE.
  • Potential hazards include serious cuts, burns, bruises, and permanent injury; goggles and heavy gloves are mandatory; caution reduces risk.
