Hydropower Project Engineer

Role Snapshot

Step into a 12-month assignment where you’ll keep water-powered generation moving. As a Hydropower Project Engineer with WECTEC Staffing Services (a wholly owned subsidiary of Westinghouse Electric Company LLC), you’ll be embedded in an innovative team advancing clean energy outcomes across the Upper Midwest.

Where you'll work

Primary hubs: Minneapolis, MN or Eau Claire, WI. You’ll support approximately 25 hydro facilities (mostly in Wisconsin, plus one in Minnesota).

A week in the role

• Own 10+ projects per year from kickoff through closeout, coordinating schedules, scope, and stakeholders.
• Develop precise bid and design specifications to support maintenance, upgrades, and construction.
• Partner closely with hydro plant management and contractors to deliver safe, quality outcomes.
• Travel to sites seasonally: summer/fall for construction, winter/spring for design and closeout. Estimated travel: 20–30% (primarily summer/fall).

What you bring

• ABET-accredited engineering degree in Mechanical, Electrical (including Controls), or Civil/Structural.
• Valid driver’s license.
• FE/EIT required; PE preferred. PMP or demonstrated project management experience is valued.
• Hands-on with SAP (work management), scheduling tools (Primavera P6 or MS Project), and Bluebeam.
• Minimum 2 years of engineering experience; hydro or industrial background with at least 6+ months hydro familiarity.

We are committed to transparency and equity in our people practices. The base salary range for this role, dependent on experience, qualifications, and skills, is estimated at $60.00 - $66.00.
