Construction Equipment Diagnostics Technician
Location: Lenexa, KS — Husqvarna Construction Service Center
A day in the life
You roll into our Lenexa service hub and power up your workstation. Waiting for you: a floor grinder with erratic motor behavior, a dust collector in need of a new control board, and a power trowel due for a complete inspection. You triage returns, connect test equipment, interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics, and collaborate with Technical Services to get customers back to work—fast and safely.
What you’ll do
- Diagnose, evaluate, and repair electric, battery, and gas-powered construction equipment—specializing in medium to large floor grinders, dust collectors, power trowels, and light compaction units.
- Provide hands-on support to the Technical Services team, documenting findings and resolutions.
- Process and restore customer-returned equipment to specification.
- Rework, retrofit, and modify in-stock equipment as required.
- Partner with customers, field sales, and fellow technicians to troubleshoot, quote, and resolve issues.
What you’ll bring
- Five or more years’ experience in assembly, service, and/or fabrication (preferred).
- Advanced technical training or education is a plus.
- Proficiency with PCs for diagnostics, documentation, and parts lookup.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic blueprints/schematics.
- Sound judgment, solid problem-solving, and collaborative communication with internal teams and customers.
- Physical capability: grasp, power grip, pinch, and twist/turn; carry up to 75 lbs up/down/overhead; push; climb up/over/under; and reach around/under/over/above shoulder height.
