This position is for a professional with experience in utilities
medium term and long-term demand forecasting. The holder of this position is
expected to ensure effective conduct of the aforesaid responsibilities.
Education and Experience:
§ Minimum
bachelor’s degree or higher major Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
§ Minimum
10 years’ experience in the power and water utilities industry, with hands-on
experience of demand forecasting, electricity and water capacity expansion
planning, and in conducting economic feasibility studies.
§ Proficient
in data analysis and the use of statistical methods in demand forecasting for
electricity and water.
§ Expertise
in PLEXOS for integrated power and water system simulation, dispatch modelling,
and capacity expansion. Knowledge of PSSE is desirable.
§ Experience
in renewable (Solar PV) integration and storage optimization is a plus.
§ Analysis
of financial models for capacity expansion scenarios.
§ Proficient
in the English (must) and Arabic (preferred) language.
§ Proven
analytical and problem-solving skills, and ability to effectively manage
multiple projects/tasks of varying complexities
Key responsibilities:
§ Analyze
electricity and water demand and other factors such as population growth, GDP,
industrial development, etc. to generate Medium-term and long-term electricity and water peak
and consumption forecast. Update / Build new models for demand forecast, as
required.
§ Maintain
documentation on processes of medium -term and long-term electricity and water
demand forecast.
§ Carry
out Power generation and water desalination planning using PLEXOS
§ Update
and run electricity and water capacity expansion planning models and generate
expansion scenarios and demand supply balance plans.
§ Economic
analysis of capacity expansion scenarios.
§ Preparation
of presentations and reports.
§ Monitor
accuracy, improve and automate forecast and capacity expansion planning
processes and models.
§ Contribute
to building feasibility studies, site selections and technology selections for
additional capacity.
§ Provide
and monitor training and development assignments for relevant Qatari staff
Development.
