Role at a glance
- Location: Remote within California (must reside in CA to support assigned customers)
- Environment: Primarily inside hospitals and healthcare facilities
- Focus: Troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, installation, and upgrades of STERIS and competitor equipment
Primary impact areas
- Execute diagnostics, repairs, and routine maintenance on equipment, systems, and components.
- Independently manage time and priorities to complete PMs, service calls, warranty calls, equipment installs, and field upgrade programs.
- Document work thoroughly using advanced digital platforms to meet regulatory and quality standards.
- Coordinate with Tech Support, Engineering, and Service Contract Management to resolve escalations efficiently.
- Educate customers on findings, present repair options and pricing, and—with management support—collaborate with Sales to enhance the customer experience and identify opportunities.
- Support multiple sites across the territory as service agreements and customer needs dictate.

Experience from fields such as HVAC, mechanical maintenance, refrigeration, boilers/chillers, equipment repair, diesel/automotive, aviation, plumbing, and electrical commonly transfers well to this position.
Required qualifications
- High school diploma or GED plus 4+ years of work experience, including 2+ in a mechanical/technical role. An associate degree, relevant certifications, competitive equipment training, or comparable military experience may satisfy the technical experience expectation.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet all background and physical assessment criteria to obtain and maintain vendor credentialing.
- Customer-facing experience and effective teamwork skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication.
- Basic computer literacy (Windows/email, navigation, mobile apps, and multi-system data entry).
- Schedule flexibility for early/late hours and possible overnights to meet customer/business requirements.
