Step into a bench where accuracy matters. Your day begins at the layout table, turning customer prints and specifications into precise, production-ready fixtures. You locate and coordinate reference points and tooling holes with straightedges and high-accuracy metrology tools, translate GD&T from blueprints and 3D CAD models into build steps, and bring each assembly to life with craftsmanship and care.

A day in the shop

• Translate customer drawings, specs, and quality requirements into build plans and completed fixtures.
• Lay out and coordinate datums, reference points, and tooling holes using straightedges and precision measuring equipment.
• Repair and rework existing jigs/fixtures to restore function and accuracy.
• Create quick fabrication sketches to communicate design and process decisions.
• Operate manual machine tools — lathes, Bridgeport mills, and grinders — to fabricate and fit components.

Your background

• 5+ years building precision jigs/fixtures.
• Expert blueprint reading, including GD&T and interpreting 3D CAD models.
• Fluent with hand metrology and precision measurement tools.
• Hands-on experience with manual machining (mills, lathes, grinders).
• Strong math fundamentals and clear, professional communication.

Tools and processes you’ll touch

Bridgeport-style milling machines, engine lathes, surface grinders, layout tables, straightedges, height gages, micrometers, and other shop-standard metrology instruments.
