Process Piping Welder‑Fitter (Stainless & Carbon Steel)

Picture your first week: you step into a clean, well-equipped shop, badge in, grab your issued tools and uniform, and head to a work order that calls for a stainless tie‑in on a process line. You review the P&ID and vendor specs, plan your fit‑up, and lay in a precise TIG root. By mid‑day you’re troubleshooting a carbon steel run, collaborating with a supervisor and teammates, then wrapping up with data entry in the work order system. Before you head home, you swing by the on‑site 24/7 fitness center for a quick workout.

Your day‑to‑day

• Work under the direction and supervision of others to weld and fit stainless and carbon steel pipe.
• Read and interpret work orders, flow sheets, blueprint drawings, vendor specifications, and P&IDs to identify issues and determine repair plans.
• Use TIG, MIG, and stick processes with confidence.
• Perform welding, brazing, and soldering to repair, replace, and install stainless and carbon steel plate and pipe, as well as aluminum, copper, and other metals.
• Leverage hand, power, and shop tools safely and effectively.
• Assemble and install process equipment; execute rigging and equipment installation for pipe fitting projects.
• Diagnose equipment issues, troubleshoot, and solve problems quickly.
• Carry out preventive maintenance within the facility, including lubrication as needed and directed.
• Complete accurate data entry in the work order system.
• Take on miscellaneous duties as assigned to support the operation.

6G performance check during hiring

All candidates must take the following 6G tests as part of the interview process:

• 2" carbon steel tig root, tig cover
• 6" schedule 40, tig root, stick cover, 7018
• 2" stainless steel, tig root, tig cover
