Founding Product Designer

About the Role

A Y Combinator-backed B2B SaaS startup in Munich is hiring its first Product Designer. You'll own the entire design function end-to-end — from user research and prototyping to shipping production-ready features — for an AI-first platform that automates quote and order workflows for distributors and manufacturers. This is a rare opportunity to define the look, feel, and usability of a product from the ground up, working directly alongside a small, ambitious product team on-site in Munich.

What You'll Do

  • Own the full product design process, making core UX and product decisions independently.
  • Lead customer-facing user research to surface pain points and validate design solutions.
  • Build interactive prototypes and test product hypotheses directly with customers.
  • Design intuitive, AI-first interfaces that simplify complex B2B workflows (CPQ, quoting, RFQ processing).
  • Collaborate closely with engineers to implement and iterate on new features.
  • Contribute to brand and marketing assets — website visuals, presentations — as needed.
  • Work on-site and participate actively in the Product & Operations team.

What We're Looking For

Required:

  • 2–5 years of product design experience, with a strong portfolio focused on B2B SaaS — preferably CPQ or quote/order workflows.
  • Experience conducting customer-facing UX research, usability testing, and translating insights into design decisions.
  • Proficiency in Figma for designing and prototyping high-fidelity interfaces.
  • Experience building or maintaining scalable design systems.
  • Professional fluency in both German and English (primarily German-speaking users).
  • Willingness to work on-site in Munich, Germany (relocation required if not already local).
  • Eligible to work in Germany without visa sponsorship.

Nice to Have:

  • Frontend-capable: comfortable collaborating with engineers; basic knowledge of HTML/CSS/JS or React.
  • Experience designing AI-powered features or data-informed product flows.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted design tools (e.g., Lovable, Cursor, Claude).
  • Prior experience at an early-stage startup.

Location & Work Arrangement

On-site in Munich, Germany. Relocation to Munich is required. Visa sponsorship is not available — candidates must already be eligible to work in Germany.

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation details will be discussed during the interview process. You'll join a seed-stage, Y Combinator-backed company with significant early traction in the B2B automation space, with the opportunity to grow into a design leadership role.
