What You’ll Do
- Commission new steam and thermal fluid heating units at customer sites
- Perform electrical and mechanical troubleshooting on industrial systems
- Work with PLC and HMI platforms (Allen-Bradley, Siemens / RSLogix500, etc.)
- Conduct combustion testing and tune burner fuel-air ratios using analyzers
- Support customers via phone/email when not traveling
- Perform pre-shipment burner testing at the factory
- Document service work, write weekly trip reports, and contribute to instruction manual content
- Travel to customer sites including power plants, hospitals, process facilities, boiler rooms, ship engine rooms, labs, and more
Location: Anywhere in the U.S. (must live within 2 hours of a major airport)
Travel: 80–90% (70% domestic / up to 20% international)
Pay: $40–$45/hr + Per Diem ($65 domestic / $100–$150 international)
Overtime: could be up to 20+ hours during travel weeks
What We’re Looking For
Preferred Background:
- Associate’s degree or high school diploma/GED
- 3+ years working with PLCs, HMIs, or industrial control systems
- Experience writing, editing, loading, or troubleshooting control programs (RSLogix500 preferred)
- Strong electrical & mechanical troubleshooting skills (motors, relays, sensors, actuators, circuits)
- Ability to read electrical and piping schematics
- Familiarity with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Experience with boilers, burners, HVAC, or combustion equipment (strong plus)
- Comfort using hand tools, multimeters, diagnostic equipment, and combustion analyzers
Personal Traits:
- Enjoys heavy travel and field-based work
- Strong communicator, both written and verbal
- Independent, resourceful, and able to represent the company professionally on-site
