Flat Grinding Technician — Okamoto/Parker Majestic

Your impact

When a print calls for tenths, perfect flatness, and crisp edges on hardened alloys, you turn complexity into consistency. You’ll own critical surface grinding work that keeps our customers on time and our reputation razor sharp.

The challenge

Take a low-volume, high-mix queue. For each job, decide wheel, setup, and sequence. Program and run a wet grinder for precision surfaces, or switch to manual for tactile control. Verify, adjust, and verify again—until the part meets every dimension and GD&T requirement.

Core responsibilities

  • Set up and operate programmable wet and manual surface grinders (Okamoto, Parker Majestic) to create precision flat and contoured surfaces.
  • Choose and mount wheels; determine speeds/feeds; fixture parts securely for accuracy and repeatability.
  • Interpret detailed blueprints, shop orders, and complex GD&T callouts.
  • Conduct in-process and final inspections using micrometers, calipers, and optical comparators.
  • Dress wheels, troubleshoot setups, and make minor machine adjustments to sustain peak performance.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and required PPE at all times.
  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, and administrative teams to achieve quality and throughput objectives.
  • Perform other related duties as needed.
