Hourly, Non-Exempt

What success looks like

You dive into blueprints and wiring diagrams, confirm materials meet spec, and build mechanical and electrical subassemblies that become AMACO/Brent products. You label, package, and verify quality meticulously. You’re comfortable in a hot shop, can lift 50+ pounds, and you’re the person others ask when they need a quick training assist. You’ll report to the Mechanical Division Supervisor and may receive assignments from department leader(s) or designated personnel.

Core responsibilities

  • Inspect materials and parts prior to build
  • Assemble components; label and package finished goods
  • Preassemble mechanical/electrical units using power tools safely
  • Measure precisely with tape measures and other devices
  • Ensure quality at each step; maintain a clean, safe work area
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned; occasionally train colleagues

Qualifications

  • Proficient with power tools and shop equipment
  • Blueprint and wiring diagram literacy
  • Accurate measuring and strong shop math
  • Mechanical assembly and soldering capability
  • Clear verbal communication; strong interpersonal skills
  • Self-directed with sound time management; minimal supervision needed
  • Plus: qualified for Assembler and Electrical & Mechanical Sub-Assembler duties

Environment and physical demands

Manufacturing-floor role with on-the-job training; occasional hot conditions and prolonged standing. Regularly talk/hear; frequently stand, walk, use hands, and reach; occasionally sit, climb/balance, and stoop/kneel/crouch/crawl. Frequently lift/move 50+ lbs. Vision: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth, and focus adjustment.

Schedule, travel, and education

  • Full-time, Monday–Friday; 40+ hours/week
  • Occasional evenings/weekends as required
  • No travel
  • High School Diploma or GED required; 1+ year experience preferred
