Electromechanical Diagnostics and Service Technician
Do you thrive on dissecting complex systems and fixing what others cant? Are you the go-to problem solver who can explain the issue to a customer and then build the fixture to verify the fix?
What you will do
- Repair and restore intricate electronic and/or mechanical equipment at the component level.
- Support intermediate product development with hands-on insights from testing and service.
- Communicate directly with customers as needed to understand faults and present solutions.
- Fabricate complex jigs, fixtures, and tooling to aid diagnostics.
- Perform warranty tear-downs, identify root causes, and propose corrective actions.
- Document work thoroughly by completing required service reports and associated paperwork.
- Advance the ATS Culture Initiative: drive continuous improvement, use quantitative process monitoring, complete quality core courses, apply ATS Core Values, and follow all safety procedures for company and customer sites.
Qualifications
- A.A. or equivalent from a two-year college/technical school; and 58 years of relevant experience/training; or 10 years of equivalent education/experience.
- Read/interpret safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write clear routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively to customer or employee groups.
- Math/technical aptitude: proportions, percentages, area, circumference, volume; familiarity with algebra, physics, and geometry.
- Ability to follow written, oral, or diagrammed instructions and solve problems with multiple concrete variables in standardized settings.
- Solid grounding in electronics and/or mechanics with intermediate to complex troubleshooting prowess built through repair work.

Work setting and physical expectations
- Frequent standing and walking; regular use of hands/fingers and reaching.
- Climbing/ascending/descending or balancing at heights using ladders or lifts as needed.
- Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl in tight spaces; frequent talking and hearing; occasional sitting.
- Occasionally lift or move items exceeding 50 pounds.
- Regular need for close and color vision.
- Occasional exposure to outdoor weather and electrical shock risk.
- Typical factory environment that is very loud, with possible exposure to hazardous materials and/or greasy or slippery floors.
