A day in the life

You start by reviewing preventive maintenance (PM) schedules and work orders, prioritizing tasks that protect uptime. Mid-morning might bring an urgent call to diagnose an unexpected equipment fault; you arrive with tools in hand, read the schematics, and get the line running safely and accurately. Later, you may draft clear instructions for a tooling modification, source approved parts from vendors, and set up machinery for a scheduled production run.

What you’ll do

  • Develop, communicate, and execute preventive maintenance schedules across assigned facilities to maximize reliability.
  • Install, set up, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair production equipment, material handling equipment, and building systems using hand and power tools.
  • Respond to emergency and unscheduled breakdowns with speed and precision.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance to minimize downtime and boost efficiency.
  • Carry out advanced mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic diagnostics and repairs.
  • Interpret equipment manuals, blueprints, schematics, and work orders; apply advanced troubleshooting to resolve complex issues.
  • Champion safety and environmental compliance, adhering to all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies while driving continuous improvement.
  • Define and communicate complete specifications for custom tooling and equipment modifications.
  • Identify and request tooling, parts, supplies, and equipment from external vendors with management approval.

Additional ways you’ll contribute

  • Prepare and stage machinery for scheduled production runs to ensure optimal performance.
  • Assist with maintenance of facility systems and utilities.
  • Offer guidance to junior and entry-level maintenance technicians as needed.

Physical capabilities

  • Lift up to 75 lbs safely.
  • Stand for extended periods (up to 8 hours).
  • Sit, kneel, or crouch continuously for up to 2 hours.
  • Use non-powered hand tools to tighten or loosen fasteners with precision.
  • Climb ladders and stairs confidently and safely.

What you bring

  • Advanced shop math skills; ability to measure precisely and sketch custom parts and tools.
  • Expert troubleshooting across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Proficiency with powered and non-powered hand tools and safe work practices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; ability to read technical documentation and accurately enter, edit, and interpret maintenance records and PM schedules.
  • Valid Class C Driver’s License (or equivalent).
  • Advanced ability to read and comprehend technical documentation for assigned equipment.
