Powell builds engineered-to-order switchgear and electrical equipment for the power generation sector. Join our Electrical Assembly team and help transform schematics into dependable, safe systems. This role collaborates with electricians and technicians to meet stringent industry standards. Schedule: Four 10s, Monday–Thursday, 2:30pm–1:00am.

What you’ll do

  • Turn point-to-point diagrams into accurate, labeled terminations for MCC, SWGR, and harness assemblies
  • Route and bundle wire to Powell standards for quality and serviceability
  • Lay out components; drill and tap mounting holes; install devices on doors and back pans
  • Install nameplates and space heaters per specifications
  • Install and terminate current transformers (CTs)
  • Verify circuits using continuity buzzers/testers
  • Use crimpers, strippers, torqueing, and calibrating tools safely and correctly
  • Complete in-process inspections to ensure compliance and craftsmanship
  • Keep your workstation clean and organized; model safe work practices and attend all safety meetings

What makes you a great fit

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Can read and interpret point-to-point wiring diagrams and blueprints
  • Comfortable using a tape measure for precise layout
  • English communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Proven safe use of hand/power tools
  • Can lift up to 50 lbs with proper technique

Nice to have

  • Basic computer skills
  • Knowledge of calibration practices
  • Ability to read spec sheets and master copy drawings

Where you’ll work

  • Temperature-controlled manufacturing/industrial environment with occasional outdoor activities
  • Safety-sensitive role requiring PPE at all times (hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, harness as needed); respirators when required
  • Work from step, A-frame, and extension ladders, plus scaffolding
  • Operate at heights up to 30 feet using approved lift equipment

Physical capabilities

  • Maintain balance and agility while walking, standing, crouching, and climbing/descending stairs
  • Frequent bending at waist/knees; repetitive reaching with arms/hands
  • Extended standing and walking 50–300 feet with occasional sitting
  • Climb stairs frequently during the shift
  • Frequent overhead work and tasks with arms fully extended
  • Apply/exert up to 50 lbs of force continuously with upper extremities
  • Frequent, prolonged use of tin snips, hammers, and power tools (including some vibrating tools)
