Field & Shop Heavy Truck Mechanic — Utility Equipment Systems

Is this you?

  • Do you thrive on diagnosing diesel, hydraulic, electrical, and chassis issues?
  • Are you comfortable performing PMs and repairs on bucket trucks, digger derricks, cranes, high rail units, dump, service, and forestry trucks?
  • Can you document work clearly, manage parts and labor records, and submit repair orders for approval?
  • Will you promote a safe work environment and engage in monthly CTOS safety meetings?

What you’ll do

  • Assess, diagnose, repair, and replace components on vocational/utility trucks and mounted equipment—both in the field and in the shop.
  • Deliver maintenance and repairs for medium/heavy-duty trucks; hydraulics and electrical background is a plus.
  • Ensure quality standards across multiple OEMs and utility equipment manufacturers.
  • Maintain precise service documentation so vehicles are properly priced and reflect CTOS quality.
  • Submit all work/repair orders to a supervisor to maintain budgets and accurate repair costs.
  • Follow best-practice safety procedures; attend monthly safety meetings.
  • Handle other assigned tasks that keep customers moving.

Your schedule and tools

  • Day shift, Monday–Friday.
  • Overtime as needed; limited Saturdays.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Bring your own mechanics tool set.

Skills checklist

Basic

  • Experience with diesel or medium/heavy trucks (construction, farm, military also considered).
  • Mechanical aptitude with hydraulic/electrical systems.
  • Computer literacy for documenting repairs.

Preferred

  • Electrical troubleshooting, schematics/blueprints, hydraulics, welding.
  • Familiar with Quick Serve and DTNA diagnostic platforms.
  • DOT, ANSI, and dielectric testing knowledge.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Related experience (Shop Tech).
  • Valid driver’s license and personal tools.
