A day in the life
You arrive to a clean, organized bay and review the day’s travelers and blueprints. Your first setup is a 5‑axis job on Invar, followed by a 3‑axis run in Aluminum. You select tooling, set work offsets, and input hole patterns and radii using MDI. With Fanuc 15MB and 30i at your fingertips, you calculate spindle speeds, feed rates, and chip loads to hold tight tolerances across Composite and Graphite parts. Between cycles, you verify features with micrometers, calipers, and bore gauges, document results, and coordinate with teammates to keep production on schedule and quality on target. You wrap by cleaning your area and caring for the equipment—then take on additional duties as assigned.
What you’ll handle
- Set up and operate 3‑axis and 5‑axis CNC milling machines per job specifications
- Read/interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions to determine machining requirements
- Run Fanuc 15MB and 30i controls; Siemens 840D or Heidenhain exposure is a plus
- Machine Invar, Aluminum, Composite, and Graphite while maintaining tight tolerances
- Complete full machine setups and in‑process checks
- Use micrometers, calipers, and bore gauges to verify part accuracy
- Input hole patterns and radii using MDI
- Calculate spindle speeds, feed rates, and chip loads based on materials and tooling
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and ensure proper care of equipment
- Collaborate with team members to meet production schedules and quality standards
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management
