This position supports a Tier One automotive supplier specializing in the design and production of exterior automotive lighting systems and electronic components. The role is based at a U.S. manufacturing and engineering facility with in-house capabilities spanning lighting design, mold design, production engineering, quality, assembly, sales, and customer support.

Minimize production issues through sound design practices
Communicate clearly through presentations and technical discussions
Execute robust design and development of exterior automotive lighting products from concept through production
Ensure regulatory compliance through feasibility studies
Conduct DFMEA, DRBFM, and FTA design reviews
Identify, investigate, and resolve design-related issues
Research and develop new technologies applicable to product design
Create 2D and 3D component and assembly drawings, including BOMs
Validate designs through mock-ups and tooling trials
Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and IATF 16949 standards

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent education/experience
2–5 years of experience with plastic injection molding
3–5 years of CAD experience using CATIA V5 or V6 (required)
Familiarity with FMVSS 108 and global lighting regulations
Understanding of electrical circuits and LED operation
Automotive design experience
Proficiency with Microsoft Office
