Lean Process Engineer, Injection Molding

Why this role matters

Our plastic injection operations power our products. Your role is to codify how we build: set process standards, unify KPIs across the plant, expose performance gaps, and lead the projects that close them—safely, repeatedly, and at lower cost.

Imagine this scenario

A new product ramp strains capacity. You map the value stream, redesign the cell, and introduce a simple device to stage inserts. With DOE you dial in parameters, FMEA mitigates risk, and a fishbone points to a training gap. You update SAP master data, size the workforce for peak hours, and present a concise case that wins capital for an auxiliary piece of equipment. Three weeks later, scrap is down, takt is met, and the KPI board tells the story.

Your Focus Areas

  • Process Standards: Build and implement standardized work and best practices for plastic injection manufacturing.
  • Performance Visibility: Create and consolidate KPIs for plant areas; interpret trends, highlight gaps, and co-create improvement plans.
  • Operational Excellence: Identify and capture efficiency opportunities; run projects that measurably reduce waste and variation.
  • Flow & Tooling: Develop and budget benches, devices, and movement means to streamline flow and reduce cost.
  • Resource Optimization: Engineer labor- and cost-efficient production layouts; quantify workforce needs during project analysis.
  • Lean Execution: Implement and track productivity initiatives using Lean Manufacturing or other fit-for-purpose methodologies.
  • Strategic Planning: Participate in the critical analysis and formulation of the annual investment plan for operational units.
  • Innovation & Improvement: Deliver projects that upgrade manufacturing processes and product quality.
  • Cost Discipline: Reduce costs and optimize resources through critical analysis and action planning.
  • Data Integrity: Build and validate master production data; ensure SAP system accuracy.
  • Executive Communication: Prepare presentations using project tools; present to approval committees with clarity and confidence.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; Chemical, Mechanical, Materials, Plastics, or Industrial preferred.
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint; SAP and Power BI proficiency.
  • Hands-on experience with plastic injection molding processes, molds, and machines; adept with DOE, FMEA, and fishbone analysis.

Growth & Impact

Lead initiatives from standard creation to sustained results. Your fingerprints will be on our KPI boards, SAP master data integrity, approved investment plans, and every smoother-flowing cell you help design.
