Precision CNC Setup Technologist (Milling & Turning)

About the Role

Step into a day where precision drives everything you do. You’ll begin by reviewing prints and process sheets, preparing fixtures, and loading or verifying CNC programs. Your first-piece inspection sets the tone—dialing in tool offsets, confirming tight tolerances, and validating process stability before handing the production run to operators. Throughout the shift, you’ll keep an eye on tool wear, make smart adjustments, troubleshoot issues, and document setups so repeatability is locked in.

What You’ll Do

• Prepare and set up CNC milling and/or turning centers, including installing fixtures, verifying programs, and setting tools.
• Execute tool changes and offsets; fine-tune feeds, speeds, and process parameters to hold strict dimensional requirements.
• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions to ensure quality outcomes.
• Perform first-article and in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, indicators, and gauges.
• Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and setup challenges to maximize uptime and throughput.
• Partner with machine operators during production, offering direction and support as needed.
• Track tool wear, monitor machine performance, and sustain process consistency across runs.
• Capture accurate setup notes and production records to enable repeatable results.
• Champion safety, quality, and housekeeping standards across the shop.

What You Bring

• Hands-on CNC setup experience in a precision manufacturing environment.
• Background setting up CNC mills, lathes, or multi-axis equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documentation.
• Working command of tight tolerances, tooling selection, offsets, feeds, and speeds.
• Proficiency with precision measuring tools: calipers, micrometers, indicators, and gauges.
• Mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting acumen, and a continuous improvement mindset.
• Comfort working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced setting.
• Tool and Die experience highly preferred.

Preferred Extras

• Tool and Die or tooling-focused background within manufacturing.
• Familiarity with GD&T and documented inspection processes.
• Experience with fixture setup, process optimization, and solving complex machining problems.
