Shape the future of grid-scale energy storage
Picture a day where you translate ambitious renewable goals into detailed engineering designs, then walk a site to confirm that every conduit, foundation, and interconnection aligns with the plan. As a Project Engineer on our Utility Scale Energy Storage team, you guide battery energy storage systems from early concept through commissioning, collaborating with project managers, suppliers, construction partners, and cross-functional stakeholders to maximize performance and reliability.
What your day may look like
- Lead the design phase for large-scale BESS, engineering major components and coordinating multi-discipline resources.
- Scrutinize drawings and studies to catch inconsistencies early, drive corrective actions, and raise the bar on design quality and efficiency.
- Develop clear, comprehensive technical scopes of work for contracts and vendor engagements.
- Work hand-in-hand with project managers from inception to completion, influencing engineering decisions and keeping milestones on track.
- Track technical issues and progress; surface risks early and propose mitigation plans.
- Partner with suppliers to specify and integrate major equipment, ensuring seamless systems and controls integration.
- Translate equipment specifications into actionable requirements, ensure unambiguous communication, and recommend practical solutions.
- Navigate permitting needs, propose strategies to address legal and code-related challenges, and recommend site design improvements.
- Support logistics and construction, performing technical due diligence and data analysis to optimize system performance.
- Consult across internal and external teams to propose storage solutions that elevate BESS performance.
- Take on additional responsibilities as needed to move projects forward.
Travel
Up to 25 percent for site walks, supplier meetings, FATs, and commissioning support.
