Shape Every Finish: A Day in the Life
From the first wipe-down to the final gloss check, you’ll own the finishing process on JLG products. You’ll prep surfaces, mix coatings to spec, and apply primer and paint using electrostatic and air‑assist equipment to deliver durable, automotive‑grade results.
What You’ll Do
Picture your shift:
- Start with surface prep—wash, sand, and condition parts; perform light bodywork when needed.
- Mask and unmask components precisely to meet specification requirements.
- Mix coatings for exact color, viscosity, and consistency; run titrations and fine‑tune chemicals to keep processes in control.
- Apply primer, topcoat, and touch‑ups using spray systems and brushes; add decals, stencils, and rust‑proofing as required.
- Verify quality as you go with coating thickness (mil) and gloss measurements and in‑process inspections.
- Change colors efficiently—flush tanks and lines and document settings.
- Care for your tools—disassemble, clean, and maintain pumps, heaters, tanks, and spray guns to keep the booth running flawlessly.
- Move materials safely using tuggers, forklifts, overhead cranes, or manual carts.
- Keep the work area clean, organized, and on a preventive‑maintenance schedule.
