Step into Belden Universal’s AS9100-certified shop, where universal joints and drive shafts take shape for aerospace, defense, and industrial machinery. As a CNC Surface Grinding and Honing Machinist, you’ll work shoulder-to-shoulder with seasoned specialists and contribute meaningful results from day one.
A day in the life
- Start first shift at 5:00 AM (off at 1:30 PM). Review work orders and engineering prints to plan your setups and sequence.
- Interpret GD&T to confirm surfaces, datums, tolerances, and finish requirements.
- Set up and operate Okamoto surface, manual, and CNC grinders, along with honing equipment.
- Enter and verify programs; set zeros, references, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; validate requirements using math, geometry, and trigonometry.
- Run first-article pieces and verify with in-process measurements to international standards.
- Document production and quality results; follow established quality assurance procedures under AS9100.
- Keep equipment production-ready through preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and adherence to safety protocols.

What you bring
- At least 2 years of surface grinding experience.
- Comfort with AS9100 practices and disciplined quality documentation.
- Fluency in GD&T, process improvement, and in-process measurement.
- Strong conceptual and technical skills; confident verbal communication.
- Familiarity with controls and instrumentation on Okamoto grinders.
