Industrial Controls Maintenance Electrician

Location: Albion, IN
Shift: Overnight (3rd) — 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM

At Dexter, we build the components that keep the world moving—axles, suspensions, brakes, doors, vents, and towing systems for commercial trailers, RVs, heavy-duty and marine applications, agriculture, and manufactured housing. From our Albion, IN manufacturing facility, we’re looking for an experienced Industrial Controls Maintenance Electrician to keep mission-critical equipment running through the night.

A Night in the Life

When the line is humming at 10:30 PM, you’re already ahead of it—scanning dashboards, listening for anomalies, and triaging priorities. A CNC cell flags a fault; you dive in with a meter and software tools, isolate the issue in minutes, and implement a durable fix that prevents repeat failures. A robotic arm needs a touch-up calibration; you verify I/O, adjust parameters, and validate safe operation. A ladder-logic change helps production gain a few crucial seconds per cycle; you document, test, and deploy it. Through it all, you’re the go-to problem solver—coaching teammates and, when supervisors are off-shift, stepping up to lead.

What You’ll Tackle

  • Diagnose and repair electrical problems to code, following plant standards and best practices
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting on CNC machinery and robotic systems to cut downtime
  • Analyze recurrent failures and implement long-term, root-cause solutions
  • Troubleshoot and modify PLC programs (ladder logic) using diagnostic software and tools
  • Service and maintain solid-state devices and integrated control platforms
  • Own independent repairs and provide guidance to peers when needed
  • Execute preventive and corrective maintenance to sustain peak performance
  • Respond rapidly to production calls to keep the line moving
  • Assume shift leadership responsibilities in the absence of a supervisor

Your Background

  • Deep experience with industrial electricity, automation, CNC equipment, and robotics
  • Track record of troubleshooting complex electrical and control systems
  • Working grasp of electrical theory and formulas in a manufacturing environment
  • Hands-on with PLCs and ladder logic programming/diagnostics
  • Self-directed, effective in a fast-paced setting with minimal oversight
  • Strong problem solver with a proactive, solution-first mindset
  • Willing to work overtime to meet production needs
  • Reliable attendance and follow-through
  • Committed to safety, product quality, and continuous improvement
  • Collaborative and team-oriented

Education & Experience

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college/technical school; or 5+ years of relevant experience/training; or a comparable combination of education and experience
