Forward Deployed Engineer, DACH

About the Role

A fast-growing, Y Combinator–backed B2B SaaS company is hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer based in Munich to embed with major DACH enterprise customers and help them become AI-native. You will work alongside a dedicated Enterprise AI Transformation Lead to scope, build, and ship production-grade agents and integrations that deliver measurable business value — and feed those learnings back into the core product.

This is a high-ownership, customer-facing engineering role for someone who thrives at the intersection of deep technical delivery and direct enterprise engagement. Native-level German proficiency and willingness to travel across the DACH region are required. No US visa sponsorship is available.

What You'll Do

  • Act as the engineer on the ground at major DACH accounts, partnering closely with the Enterprise AI Transformation Lead.
  • Embed on-site with customers to run workshops, hackathons, and implementation sprints.
  • Scope, build, integrate, debug, and teach customer teams to adopt production agents and workflows end-to-end.
  • Ship high-leverage use cases: complex agentic systems, custom integrations, MCP servers, and multi-step workflows.
  • Engage directly with customer CTOs and platform teams as a trusted technical peer and sparring partner.
  • Leave behind systems that customer teams can own and operate independently.
  • Surface product blockers and implement customer-driven improvements alongside the core engineering team.
  • Automate your own repetitive work by building agents that eliminate manual tasks.

What We're Looking For

Dealbreakers:

  • 3+ years of enterprise software engineering experience delivering production-grade AI agentic workflows for enterprise customers.
  • Demonstrated experience shipping agentic AI systems, tool-use loops, and LLM features that operate under load.
  • Native-level German proficiency; based in Munich or willing to relocate, with availability to travel across DACH.

Required:

  • Experience shipping a product or feature from scratch in a professional setting.
  • Strong full-stack engineering skills — able to scope and implement end-to-end solutions, including integrations with external enterprise systems and multi-step workflows.
  • Hands-on experience working on-site with large DACH enterprise customers: running workshops, hackathons, and implementation sprints; capable of scoping a complex use case in a customer meeting and delivering end-to-end.
  • Experience building custom integrations with enterprise systems and MCP servers for agent deployment.
  • Excellent communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to Have:

  • Go programming language experience.
  • Founder or early-employee experience at a startup.
  • Experience with Claude Code, Cursor, or similar AI coding/agent tooling.
  • High agency, high energy, low ego — strong sense of ownership over outcomes.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $80,000 – $150,000 USD annually (or equivalent), depending on experience.
  • Early-stage equity opportunity at a well-funded, fast-growing company.
  • Significant travel budget across the DACH region.

Location

  • Primary location: Munich, Bavaria, Germany (on-site).
  • Significant travel across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland (DACH) expected.
  • Visa sponsorship is not available.
