Food Manufacturing QA Technician – GMP & Food Safety

About the Role

On a quiet third shift in the Skokie/Niles, IL area, you’ll be the steady hand that keeps a food production line honest. As a Food Manufacturing QA Technician with Nexus Employment, you’ll walk the floor, catch small issues before they become big ones, and make the call when product needs to pause so standards never slip.

A Day in the Life

You start by reviewing line start-ups, validating changeovers, and confirming equipment hygiene with ATP and environmental swabs. As production ramps, you move station to station performing in-process inspections, verifying labels and code dates, spot-checking weights, and reviewing metal detection logs. You’ll run scale checks, audit metal detectors, and complete allergen controls while scanning for hazards like glass, brittle plastics, and stray magnets. If you spot a risk, you quarantine materials, initiate maintenance work requests, and escalate serious concerns—up to and including stopping a line. Throughout the night, you track GMP compliance, document findings, prepare and catalog retains, replenish QA supplies, and mentor newer QA team members. Before you wrap, you finalize paperwork and internal audit notes so the next shift has a clean handoff.
