Ceramic Raw Materials Production Lead

Join AMACO’s Crude Clay Division in an entry-level leadership capacity under the immediate supervision of the Crude Clay Supervisor. You’ll both do the work and lead the work—training teammates, steering daily operations, and ensuring inventory, documentation, and equipment are handled with precision.

What you’ll own

  • Lead assigned personnel as a working leader; assist with onboarding and training, including computer-related tasks.
  • Support daily planning, production, scheduling, and reporting alongside the Supervisor.
  • Operate a computer to process reports/forms and maintain accurate inventory; complete all necessary Nav transactions.
  • Create clear process documentation and work instructions.
  • Conduct routine cycle counts (labels, boxes, cartons, etc.) and maintain stock levels.
  • Operate equipment and vehicles; use hand tools; coordinate maintenance and repairs.
  • Process requisitions, prep merchandise for delivery, and package shipments per established procedures.
  • Report production output and activities; present updates to management as needed.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to meet schedules and production goals; fill in for the Supervisor when required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including coverage of these roles:
    • All duties of Job #30 (Bulk Handling Operator)
    • All duties of Job #03 (Mix Operator)
    • All duties of Job #22 (Material Handler)

  • Knowledge of modern manufacturing and inventory practices; orderly storage and space optimization.
  • Understanding of materials, equipment, supplies, and record-keeping techniques.
  • Strong safety mindset: lifting best practices and housekeeping standards.
  • People skills grounded in tact, patience, and courtesy; effective verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to plan, oversee, and participate in Crude Clay operations while training others.
  • Math fluency (add/subtract/multiply/divide quickly and accurately); computer terminal operation.
  • Proficiency documenting processes, maintaining inventories/records, preparing reports, and creating HR Note to Files.
  • Comfort working in a hot environment with exposure to dust, fumes, and variable temperature/humidity.

How you’ll work

  • Standing, sitting, and walking throughout the shift.
  • Frequent bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, and reaching.
  • Use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations; speech, vision, and hearing required.
  • Lift/carry/push/pull up to 75 pounds (and higher with assistance).
  • Operate around moving machinery and in areas with changing temperature/humidity, dust, fumes, and gases.

  • High School education or equivalent experience.

  • Organized, time-savvy multi-tasker; able to make decisions within Team Leader responsibilities.
  • Clear, confident communicator; able to present information to management.
