In Petersburg, our Brenco Bearing and Amsted Seals teams produce tapered roller bearings and precision sealing systems that keep freight moving worldwide. We’re adding a Metrology Technician focused on cup and cone grinding to safeguard dimensional accuracy and product integrity.
Role focus
- Follow plant safety, ergonomics, and environmental practices aligned to the Amsted Rail Health & Safety program
- Use gauges and measurement tools to validate part dimensions against prints/specifications per departmental quality plans
- Support first‑piece approvals; examine workpieces for defects and condition
- Assist Setup with changeovers, tooling/attachment swaps, and line/cell readiness
- Capture inspection and test data per quality procedures and enter production information into company systems
- Quarantine and communicate nonconforming product; alert operators/supervisors promptly
- Lift and position machine components manually or with hoists/cranes
- Contribute to operations as needed: equipment operation, packing, and material handling
You must be able to perform the essential functions satisfactorily, with or without accommodation.
Qualifications
- Successfully pass a pre-employment drug & background screening
- Ability to lift, push, and pull 10–50 lbs.
- Comfort with required, employer‑provided PPE
- Ability to stand and move regularly throughout the department and shift
- Mechanical aptitude; prior industrial environment experience preferred
