A day in the life

It’s 8:00 a.m. on the manufacturing floor in Rock Hill. You start by walking a layup cell, reviewing materials, tooling, and process controls before coaching a technician through a new pre-preg schedule. By mid-morning, you’re running a hands-on training lab, using visual work aids and exercises you authored to reinforce vacuum integrity, ply orientation, and cure parameters. After lunch, you’re side-by-side with Quality during a First Article Inspection, validating that your standardized instructions drive first-time-through quality. You wrap the day with Engineering and Production, closing process gaps discovered during a pilot build and planning the next iteration of our composite training curriculum.

How you will contribute

  • Serve as the go-to expert in composite lamination and fabrication, elevating technique and discipline on the floor.
  • Design, launch, and continually refine a structured, hands-on composite training program that scales.
  • Create clear instructional content: standardized work instructions, visual job aids, and practical shop exercises.
  • Deliver consistent, repeatable training aligned with company quality and safety expectations.
  • Partner with Engineering, Quality, and Production to maximize training effectiveness and throughput.
  • Spot process gaps and implement improvements that boost quality, repeatability, and efficiency.
  • Provide on-the-floor support during FAI and as programs transition from prototype to production scale.

What you bring

  • 10+ years of hands-on composite lamination experience in a production environment.
  • Track record creating standardized work instructions and skills-progression frameworks.
  • Deep knowledge of composite materials, layup methods, vacuum/bagging, and process control.
  • Proven ability to design and deliver organized, effective training sessions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration across multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Preferred credentials: composites lamination certifications (e.g., ACMA, NADCAP) and Lean.
