Advanced CNC Turning Specialist, Mastercam/SolidWorks

At American Roller Company in Riverdale, IL, we manufacture custom and standard rollers for the converting industry. We’re hiring a CNC Machinist II to program, set up, and machine precision components on CNC lathes.

Hiring bonus: $1,000 awarded after 6 months of employment.

What you will do

  • Program & set up: Use Mastercam to program directly from SolidWorks models; write/adjust CNC G&M codes and leverage conversational programming. Save CNC programs with supporting documents and keep files organized.
  • Machine to spec: Produce parts to blueprint requirements or CREW’s common shop tolerance, including pre-finishing operations.
  • Inspect & document: Perform in-machine checks; complete inspection reports and job travelers. Review blueprints and E-drawings for issues tied to the work being performed.
  • Finalize parts: Polish/finish, deburr, rustproof, wrap, crate, and ensure all parts are protected.
  • Handle materials: Straighten rolls/shafts using a torch or hydraulic press; load/unload product; obtain needed shop supplies.
  • Maintain & stay safe: Conduct daily maintenance; complete maintenance sheets; keep your work area clean; follow ISO work instructions and standard CREW shop practices.
  • Communicate clearly: Provide pass-down notes at shift change; coordinate with operators and supervisors; return blueprints to the print rack; log time accurately in Job-Boss Workstation Driver; use MICROSOFT SHAREPOINT to access job information and maintain a clean desktop.

What you bring

  • 3–5 years as a CNC lathe machinist.
  • Proficiency in CNC programming and conversational programming.
  • Comfort reading technical drawings; mastery with micrometers, gauges, and precision measuring tools.
  • Able to train on first shift.
  • Relocation to Riverdale, IL prior to start.
