Role snapshot

  • Core member of our maintenance team, ensuring uninterrupted operations across heavy industrial assets.
  • One application covers all three Mon Valley Works sites: Clairton Works, Irvin Works, and Edgar Thomson Works.

Your impact

  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical/electronic systems via schematics, PLC logic, and AC/DC fundamentals.
  • Install, maintain, and occasionally operate equipment to support production uptime.
  • Use standard and specialized tools; work around mobile equipment, pendant and overhead cranes, and forklifts.
  • Execute tasks independently or alongside other technicians; shift between plant areas as needed.

Environment & schedule

  • Rotating 8-hour shifts that include weekends and holidays.
  • Overtime required as business needs dictate.
  • Conditions vary—hot, cold, wet, greasy, dirty, and noisy.
  • Safety is non‑negotiable: hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, protective clothing, and metatarsal boots are mandatory.
  • On-time attendance and strong self-direction are essential.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 1 year in manufacturing/industrial maintenance (relevant military experience counts) or equivalent education.
  • Background in one or more: industrial electronics; motors and controls; electrical schematics/power; print reading; computers and PLCs; electronics; AC/DC theory and power; test instruments/instrumentation; electrical maintenance; commercial electrical construction/installation.
  • Successful completion of required assessment test(s).
