Body-in-White Glass Design Release Specialist

Join Carlex in shaping the glass systems that define vehicle cabins. In this role, you’ll guide fixed and door glass from concept math models to released product, partnering closely with General Motors as our SI3 DRE and collaborating with sheet metal, interior trim, and electrical teams to ensure seamless integration.

Your mission

  • Own design release for glazing systems using Carlex and OEM best practices and guidelines.
  • Advance programs from SOR award through Program Launch and into maintenance, coordinating internal and external partners.
  • Produce and release full-solid CAD models and associated 2D/3D datasets; approve designer output for assemblies and components.
  • Lead DFMEA and structured design reviews; document findings and present to program teams, OEM counterparts, and internal CFT members.
  • Offer on-site support at OEM facilities, off-site design centers, test facilities, and assembly plants to meet critical milestones.
  • Support prototyping at glass plants, value-add operations, and component suppliers.
  • Act as the technical liaison between Carlex manufacturing, suppliers, and OEM engineering.
  • Negotiate specifications, tolerance strategies, and alternative concepts with OEM stakeholders.
  • Lead Product Development Team (PDT) meetings with OEM partners and internally alongside Program Management.

What you bring

Education & experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Design/Engineering.
  • 5+ years of automotive product experience; glazing exposure is a plus.
  • 5+ years in automotive product design and GD&T with CAD tools (Unigraphics/NX required; CATIA a plus).
  • Familiarity with major automotive OEMs; Teamcenter experience is a plus.
  • Prior work with General Motors design and engineering release systems.
