Picture this: you’re steering a high-visibility substation program from a blank page to a live, compliant, commissioned asset. You coordinate early engineering for FERC 1000 and greenfield opportunities, guide multidisciplinary design through 10/30/60/90/IFC, and ensure interconnection agreements and ISO requirements are fully realized in the final build. This position is remote with bi-monthly travel to Juno Beach, FL and occasional North American travel. Engagement is a 1-year W-2 contract.
Impact You’ll Make
- Initiate and lead internal substation projects from concept through commissioning
- Partner with Early-Stage PM and Development to define engineering scope and requirements
- Direct supplier strategy via NEER’s Integrated Supply Chain (ISC): scope, bid, evaluate, award
- Advance site development—coordinate site selection, permits, data, and engineering updates
- Support Transmission Services reviewing system impact and facility studies, reactive/harmonic analyses, and interconnection agreements
- Translate Transmission Owner requirements and E&C standards into ISO-compliant design
- Lead design deliverables across physical, electrical, and civil disciplines at 10%, 30%, 60%, 90%, and IFC
- Collaborate with EORs; run structured design reviews and comment resolution
- Establish work plans and clear lines of demarcation across engineering functions
- Reinforce schedule adherence from the engineering front
- Support Legal with regulatory filings, depositions, and hearings
- Partner with OEMs to tailor components to NEER philosophies
- Continuously research emerging technologies and practices to inform project decisions
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; Master’s preferred
- 11+ years of high-voltage substation design/engineering experience
- Background in project engineering and project management
- No requirement to stamp engineering drawings
- Ability to travel within North America; on-site in Juno Beach, FL twice monthly
