Your day-to-day
On our Industrial Gas Turbine (IGT) team in Hampton, VA, you’ll be the go-to expert who keeps production moving. You’ll install, maintain, and repair plant equipment and facility systems so our teams can manufacture high-tech components safely, accurately, and efficiently.
Schedule & pay
- Available shifts: 2nd (Mon–Fri, 3:00 pm–11:00 pm) and 3rd (Mon–Fri, 11:00 pm–7:00 am)
- Training: 1st shift (Mon–Fri, 7:00 am–3:00 pm)
- Starting rate: $41.70/hour
- Off-shift premium: $1.00/hour
What you’ll do
- Own preventive maintenance on motors, pneumatics, conveyors, and production machinery using prints, manuals, and specs; troubleshoot issues to root cause.
- Pinpoint faults through observation and precision test equipment; use calipers, micrometers, and other metrology tools.
- Dismantle, repair, and reassemble machinery with hoists, cranes, and hand/power tools; evaluate parts for wear and fit.
- Diagnose 480 Vac power systems and 120 Vac control circuits; verify voltage, current, capacitance, and resistance with meters.
- Tune and align mechanisms using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
- Fabricate and machine repair parts as needed; weld and torch-cut to join or remove components.
- Plan and install conduit, field wiring, and electrical apparatus; connect power, cables, and inter-machine wiring.
- Troubleshoot and replace defective components: relays, switches, motors, position sensors, transformers, lighting, printed circuit boards, and bearings; rewire and rebuild electric motors.
- Diagnose and correct mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic failures; lay out and maintain pipe, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, replacing gauges, valves, and regulators.
- Rig equipment for installation or relocation.
- Interpret basic blueprints to install equipment and components.
- Operate an industrial forklift; work at heights up to 50 feet.
- Maintain accurate inventories for parts and supplies; place and track orders and verify receipts.
- Document work performed, irregularities, and follow-ups; create maintenance reports and analyze trends.
- Stay current through workshops, technical publications, and professional networks.
- Communicate effectively with maintenance leadership, production leaders, and machine operators.
- Keep the work area safe and clean, following procedures, rules, and regulations; contribute to team goals as needed.
What you bring
- Resume required with application.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Certification in mechanical, electrical, or multi-craft apprenticeship.
- 5–7 years of industrial electro-mechanical experience.
- Hands-on expertise with pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical systems, water systems, PLCs, welding, and analytical troubleshooting.
- Mobile equipment training and certification.
- Proficiency reading/interpreting safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; capable of writing routine reports and professional correspondence; comfortable presenting to groups of employees or customers.
- Strong math foundation (discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, volume) and practical use of algebra/geometry.
- Proven problem-solving in variable situations with limited standardization; able to interpret written, oral, diagrammatic, or scheduled instructions.
- Familiarity with robotic machinery.
- Provide your own common hand tools.
- Available for all shifts, with overtime and weekends as needed per operations.
